Part D Faces Increased CMS Scrutiny in 2017 Medicare Part D Audits

Medicare Part D faces increased scrutiny by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in 2017, as evidenced by the introduction of appeals timeliness monitoring reviews for coverage determinations,  appeals and grievances (CDAG) and prescription drug events (PDE) self-audits. In the program audits, formulary administration (FA) was largely unchanged.

In the 2017 CMS Program Audit protocols, CMS included a new universe, Part D Call Logs, for CDAG and has started Medication Therapy Management (MTM) audits.
