NCPDP Work Groups
Work groups are the place where all of the standards for electronic transmission of pharmacy data are created and modified. Member collaboration in work groups produces solutions for claims processing, rebate reporting, standardization of billing units, product labeling, ePrescribing, security and confidentiality, and more. We have 10 active work groups that meet quarterly in different regions of the country. Non-members can attend for a fee, but they do not have voting privileges.

NCPDP Task Groups
Work groups often create task groups to help complete specific projects and make recommendations. NCPDP has more than 70 task groups that meet by conference call and emails. Task group leaders report progress during quarterly work group meetings. No voting occurs in task groups so non-members as well as members are welcome to participate, especially relevant subject matter experts.

NCPDP Buddy Program
The Buddy Program is for any member in their first year of NCPDP membership. All new members are assigned a Buddy unless they opt out of the program. The Buddy guides the new member through the navigation of NCPDP and will also assist with first time work group meeting attendance if the new member is involved in work groups. The Buddy also provides networking and introduction opportunities for the new member. Seasoned NCPDP members can make a difference for new members by serving as a Buddy. As a Buddy, you gain additional networking opportunities and recognition for helping to strengthen NCPDP. NCPDP Emerging Professionals
The Emerging Professionals Group welcomes anyone in their first seven years of NCPDP membership or new to the healthcare industry. This is an opportunity to connect with other NCPDP Emerging Professionals and support one another through networking, ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities. Participants of this group are invited to attend special networking events at Quarterly Joint Technical Work Group Meetings and have exclusive access to roundtable discussions and presentations on topics of interest to this group. Members are welcome to join the Emerging Professionals Group at any time throughout the year. The Mentorship Program is designed for “seasoned” members who have decided to pursue a leadership path within the organization. It is not for new members. The leadership goals may range from the task group leader level or to eventually become a Board of Trustees member. The program provides structure and guidance to achieve the goals as determined by the mentee with his/her mentor. Any member who meets the criteria may apply for the Mentorship Program. Applications are provided upon request and are accepted December through February each year. The program is limited to four to six teams per year beginning each May and new teams are announced at Annual Conference.
