The Emergency Prescription Assistance Program (EPAP) has been activated in Puerto Rico.
This program, managed by HHS, allows “community pharmacies to process claims for prescription medications, vaccines, and limited durable medical equipment (DME) provided to individuals who are from a disaster area declared by the President and who do not have any form of health insurance coverage.” A list of participating pharmacies is available on ASPR’s website.
Emergency Preparedness Refill Too Soon Edit Override
At our August Work Group Meetings, NCPDP members approved the most effective method for overriding refill too soon type reject during a disaster: using the Submission Clarification Code 13 - Payer-Recognized Emergency/Disaster Assistance Request. The pharmacist is indicating that an override is needed based on an emergency/disaster situation recognized by the payer.
