  4. Enforcement Policy on NHRIC and NDC Numbers

    The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has released final guidance concerning the continued use of National Health Related Item Code (NHRIC) and National Drug Code (NDC). Although NCPDP and other stakeholders requested a 10-year transition period, the guidance offers enforcement discretion for finished devices manufactured and labeled prior to September 24, 2021, or five years.  Significantly, the FDA removed the three-year inventory depletion language.
