    Title: Standards Specialist, Standards Development, NCPDP

    Reports to: Senior Manager, Standards Development

    Job Status: Exempt

    Major Responsibilities
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development works with subject matter experts of the pharmacy industry to create and enhance standards for implementation. This position requires the ability to write technical standards in addition to the expertise and knowledge to analyze and correct documentation from a standards implementation viewpoint. This position requires a working knowledge of and experience with NCPDP standards.
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development assists with the development of test use cases for NCPDP standards.
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development compiles a master Work Group recap document, readies all Work Group meeting minutes for Standardization Committee review and approval and creates the DERF/Ballot/Minute timeline notification on a quarterly basis.
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development assists in harmonization activities with other industry organizations and attends meetings as appropriate to assist in bridging gaps and bringing collaboration opportunities to NCPDP membership.
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development supports staff in the Data Element Request Form (DERF) and Ballot processes for analytical and technical reviews of DERFs and data maintenance ballot documentation.
    Shared Functions
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development is a work group liaison. Functions include the support of all activities for assigned Work Group(s) and Task Group(s).
    • Assists with the Annual Conference as needed.
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development develops and implements educational tracks for the NCPDP membership and industry as appropriate.
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development participates in and performs liaison responsibilities for NCPDP committees as necessary.
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development prepares and maintains desk procedures for job responsibilities and associated functions.
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development participates in the review of website content and updates as assigned.
    General
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development reports to the Senior Manager, Standards Development on an as needed basis for scheduling, training and personnel items.
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development position requires some travel. At a minimum, work group meetings are held four times a year in various cities.
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development will work closely with the Senior Manager, Standards Development and the Director, Standards Development on the standards process, providing assistance to associated documentation and tasks, such as assisting in the creation and modification of the standard implementation guides, data dictionaries, and associated documents.
    • The Standards Specialist, Standards Development performs other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Vice President, Industry Information Technology, Director, Standards Development, and Senior Manager, Standards Development.
    Organizational Relationships

    The President of NCPDP may be required, during peak periods or when staff resources are limited, to redirect staff to share duties and responsibilities of others.

    Qualifications
    • Practical application(s) with NCPDP standard(s) is a requirement. Candidate must demonstrate a working knowledge of the development of NCPDP standards.
    • Knowledge of the pharmacy industry is a requirement. Knowledge of NCPDP processes and functions is a plus. Expertise or experience with other healthcare industry standards is beneficial but not required. Testing experience of and development of test use cases is beneficial but not required.
    • Candidate must be a self-starter who can work independently. Candidate must possess ability to plan tasks according to a schedule and execute those tasks successfully. Candidate must possess analytical skills and the ability to create solutions. The candidate must possess organizational skills required to maintain documentation of procedures followed and tracking of documents.
    • Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including Word, Excel, Project and Outlook in order to perform job duties.
    • The candidate must be able to write professionally (email, documents) and speak (telephone) professionally.
    • The position is full-time. The position may reside in the Scottsdale, AZ office or from a remote location.
