John Klimek
John Klimek R.Ph. is Senior Vice President, Industry Information Technology with the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP). His main objective in this current position at NCPDP is to work with industry leaders in healthcare to achieve interoperability amongst the healthcare standards, which will ultimately increase healthcare efficiencies and safety. He also is the chair of the SCO (Standards Charter Organization) Summit, who’s mission is to provide an environment that facilitates effective coordination and collaboration on U.S. national healthcare informatics standards development, with recognition of the international and multi-industry stakeholder implications and challenges. John also sits on the HIT Standards Committee created by the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC).
Previously Klimek held several volunteer positions with NCPDP; that being Board of Trustee, Chair of Strategic Planning Committee and Work Group 2 – Product Identification Co-Chair to name a few.
Previous to joining NCPDP staff, John was manager of pharmacy claims pre and post claims processing at Supervalu pharmacies where he has 30+ years of strong and comprehensive management experience in the pharmacy health care field. He has enjoyed a successful career developing and implementing aggressive growth strategies, utilizing a management style to make significant impacts on pharmacy claims processing, margin control, product quality and service levels. During his employment at Supervalu, he also was instrumental in implementing and rollout of new pharmacy standards (NCPDP Telecom and Script standards) to its 2,000 stores.
John holds a B.S. Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Illinois School of Pharmacy.
