Using Geographic Information Systems and Maps to Improve Immunization Practices in the United States

  • Wednesday, May 7, 2025
  • 3:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.

[INTEROPERABILITY TRACK] This session will highlight the year one outcomes of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) grant designed to improve vaccination rates and practices by pharmacists. Two pharmacy vaccine access maps were created to visualize where community pharmacies offer immunization services in the United States. A public facing interactive map was created to help patients find vaccinations. A second map was created to point healthcare professionals and public health planners towards geographic areas and vulnerable populations where pharmacists can be partners in expanding immunization efforts. Presenters will review the methods used to design these new tools and demonstrate the utility of the maps.
