The NCPDP Standards Development team works with members of task groups and work groups to create and enhance the NCPDP Standards for implementation. In addition to maintenance of the Implementation Guides for NCPDP Standards, the team supports the web-enabled lookup tools for the Data Dictionary and External Code List (ECL), NCPDP Standards Table Data, and the NCPDP eRx Validation Suite Test Tool. NCPDP Standards Table Data, available for a subscription fee, is comma-separated machine parsable files of the Data Dictionary and ECL, which allows for the content to be imported into existing computer applications and databases. The NCPDP eRx Validation Suite Test tool was developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and approved for use under the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) Health IT Certification Program. The tool is used by Electronic Health Records (EHR) and ePrescribing system vendors to test and assure correct implementation of NCPDP’s SCRIPT Standard for data transport, content usability and system functionality. Visit the NCPDP Standards Booth to learn more about the web-enabled Data Dictionary and ECL lookup tools, NCPDP Standards Table Data and the NCPDP eRx Validation Suite Test tool.
