Solving the Adherence Quandary: How Incorporating Social Determinants of Health & Leveraging Technology Can Bridge the Gap

  • Wednesday, May 4, 2022
  • 11:15 am – 12:15 pm

The elusive nature of medication adherence has plagued clinicians and healthcare professionals for decades. While the benefits of adherence to individuals, populations, and the healthcare system are numerous, patients still face significant barriers to care, including those related to access and affordability. In this session, we will examine why non-adherence remains a widespread issue, how social determinants of health must be incorporated in any intervention, and how innovative technologies and business models could play a role in the solution. The session will culminate in a case study that dissects the real-world implementation and impact of an adherence solution at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona.
