Leveraging Immunization Information Systems to Improve Data Quality in Pharmacy and Close Gaps in Care

  • Tuesday, May 9, 2023
  • 9:15 am – 10:15 am

Immunization information systems (IIS) are the gold standard of capturing historical vaccine information. The information contained in these registries can be used in conjunction with advanced computational techniques (e.g., machine learning, multiple imputation, etc.) to infer trends in incomplete or imperfect data. This session will demonstrate how these state-level systems can be paired with pharmacy immunization data to identify pockets of undercoverage and thus, clusters of individuals potentially at high-risk for infectious disease outbreaks. These tools could be used by individual pharmacies or groups to do targeted outreach and education, as well as inform educational efforts at the clinic level.
