Multi-Stakeholder Initiatives Striving to Create Real-World Tools to Bridge Administrative & Policy Data to Support Better Clinical Care

  • Tuesday, May 9, 2023
  • 10:30 am – 11:30 am

More and more industry innovators recognize the importance of coordinated relationships between standards development and policy making. Additionally, there is also more coordination amongst the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) agencies than ever before and increasing that coordination is a priority for the current administration. This presentation seeks to provide a policy landscape related to regulatory activity on prior authorization, cost transparency and burden reduction, health equity and showcase how policy makers are engaged at the standards development level monitoring the creation and testing of implementation guides in addition to the identification of new gaps and use cases across the healthcare ecosystem. The speakers will take a deeper dive into a specific multi-stakeholder initiative, HL7® CodeX™, to highlight the work this group had done related to prior authorization in oncology, genomics, REMS, and health equity. Plus, they will highlight the role of government agencies in this work, the overlap with priorities of NCPDP and how organizations can learn more and get involved in the work that aligns with their strategic goals.
